Information about the Faculty
| Presentation | The Faculty of Pharmacy, which you have chosen, aims to educate professionals who intend to operate in the field of pharmacy and health. To this end, the Faculty has introduced two single-cycle Laurea Magistrale courses – CdLM (five or six year degree courses) in Pharmacy, Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Techology (CTF). A CdLM in Pharmacy prepares neo-graduates to carry out the profession in public pharmacies, while the CdLM in CTF is directed more at students who wish to exercise their profession in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Since the A.Y. 2003/2004, a CdLM has been available in Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies, directed at those who wish to carry out their activities in this modern and fascinating cultural context. The Faculty collaborates, together with the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, in the CdLM in Food and Human Nutrition Sciences, which offers scientific preparation to professionals in this field, and together with the Faculty of Sciences, in the CdL in Biotechnologies (course of studies in Pharmaceuticals), the newly introduced preparatory course in the CdLM in Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies. The Faculty also offers its Pharmacy and CTF graduates the possibility to further their studies at the School of Specialisation in Hospital Pharmacy. This provides students with information and a cultural preparation that is indispensable to be allowed to work in Hospital Pharmacies. To enrich your cultural awareness, numerous agreements have been stipulated with various Pharmaceutical Industries throughout Italy with the aim of enabling you not just to complete your training through practical experience, but also to introduce you to the real world of work during your training period. Lastly, but of no less importance, the Faculty is very much committed to its internationalisation, through the promotion of the European Socrates/Erasmus programme. In other words, the Faculty intends to award those who enrich their curriculum studiorum, attending courses at the Faculty of Pharmacy of another European University, approving exams taken abroad and adding a point to the final degree mark. This is possible since our Faculty, for almost 20 years now, has partaken in a student mobility programme with other Universities throughout the continent. Your faculty has recently signed an agreement with the Milan School of Pharmacy of Duquesne University in Pitsburgh (USA) for student mobility, starting from the A.Y. 2009/10. As a consequence, students from both faculties can complete 50% of their professional training and/or a period of internship directed at studies relative to the degree thesis in both the USA and in Italy. This is a significant opportunity that the Faculty of Pharmacy offers its students with the aim of enriching their training and cultural heritage. The Faculty of Pharmacy’s educational programme is therefore broad and complex, and covers all the demands required by the world of work within this specific cultural ambit. So a warm welcome to all of you and, above all, once you have made your choice, I recommend that you follow the various disciplines diligently and methodically right from the first year of the course, so that you can benefit immediately from the choice made and further your studies in your own time, without accumulating unnecessary delays during your university studies. Prof. Massimo Curini (Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy) |
