Eukariotic and prokariotic cells. Virus. Amino acids chemical properties. Peptide bonds. Proteins: structure and properties. Myoglobin and Hemoglobin. Collagen, Keratin. Enzymes: Kinetyics, Mechanisms of action, Regulation of activities. Inhibition. Coenzymes. Nucleic acid stucture and function. Bases. Nucleosides and nucleotides. Carbohydrates: monosaccharides, disaccharides, polysaccharides and structural functions. Lipids: phospholipids, neutral lipids, cholesterol. Bile acids. Steroid hormones. Membranes: stucture, assembly and function. Metabolism. ADP/ATP cycle. Biologic oxidation. Catabolism of carbohydrates: glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, glycogenogenesis.The citric acid cycle. The catabolism of acetyl-CoA. Oxidation of fatty acids: ketogenesis. Catabolism of proteins and amino acid nitrogen. Transamination and ossidative deamination. Urea biosynthesis.
