The course is aimed at
- Provide adequate basic knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic function of irrigation and drainage in the planning and design and testing of irrigation and drainage systems;
- Describe and analyze the criteria and techniques of irrigation and drainage planning, design / verification / compliance and facilities management.
Planning of irrigation and drainage - Water cycle (global), earthly phase, key processes, the formation of precipitation, runoff. Equation of water balance (evaporation, transpiration, precipitation, interception, infiltration, runoff and shallow subsurface, capillary rise), with special attention to the extent and the formation of precipitation. Data processing. Return time. Analysis of extreme events. The environmental monitoring networks. Simulation models of the processes of evapotranspiration.
Hydrostatic and hydrodynamic phenomena (signs) - The fluids. Internal stresses in liquids at rest. Distribution of hydrostatic pressure. Equation in the form of static indefinite and global. Kinematics and dynamics of liquids. Typical elements of motion and movement patterns. Continuity equation. Uniform motion of the real currents of fluid under pressure. Free surface currents. Calculation of design and verification of long pipelines.
The water in the soil - soil water relations. Deficit and excess water in agricultural land. Models for the preparation of water balance (and not irrigated) for estimating the soil water content. Irrigation requirements. Irrigation parameters. Irrigation efficiency.
Patterns of irrigation systems - sources of supply. Supply and distribution systems. Distribution networks under pressure. Schemes systems watered. Criteria for water distribution. Techniques and tools for the watered: Irrigation and localized. Uniformity of distribution locations, choice of sprinklers. Criteria for selection of irrigation. Statutory management of irrigation. Choice of route of the pipeline.
Patterns of drainage systems. Criteria for propagation of the steady state and transient drainage. Materials and construction techniques
Outlines of hydrostatics and hydrodinamics.
Hydrostatics and hydrodinamics in the soil.
Irrigation Systems. Irrigation methods. Design and operation of irrigation systems.
Drainage Systems. Drainage methods. Design and operation of drainage systems
|Mode of delivery|
Starting from the operational and functional aspects of the discipline, anchoring aspects of the technical applications, the course investigates the correlates conceptual and methodological aspects. At the same time a case study will be developped.
