Specific admission requirements and specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning

Access restricted to holders of a secondary school diploma or foreign equivalent, or other suitable qualification (DM 270/04, Art. 6, paragraphs 1 and 2), after passing a selective access test (planned number of 150 local students) with a cultural and aptitude assessment. The selective test is written and structured in test form.

 

Profile of the programme

Knowledge: the psycho-physio-neurological mechanisms underlying the behaviour of the mechanisms of the dynamics of relationships, and in services to individuals, groups, organizations and communities; specific operational skills in the areas of prevention, assessment and support intervention in psychological distress of various kinds and origin; promotion of health as well-being of the individual, groups and social institutions; skills analysis of cognitive and emotional and relational processes in different social contexts and for interventions aimed at understanding, diagnosis and support of individuals and groups.

 

Qualification requirements and regulations

180 credits for three years, 60 credits per year. The programme involves disciplinary activities, laboratory training and final examination. There are 12 weeks in the first semester, 12 weeks in the second semester. Further information: Academic Regulations at www.unipg.it / sdf

Key learning outcomes

Knowledge and understanding

Knowledge and understanding in all areas of psychological disciplines (theoretical foundations of general, social, developmental, work and organizational psychology, social development, work and organizations, the dynamics of human relationships) and knowledge of research methodology and statistical methods applicable to such disciplines and procedures for data processing

 Applying knowledge and understanding

Ability to apply the knowledge learned acquired under the supervision of qualified psychologists and / or medical personnel with a leadership role. Acquire skills for devising and sustaining debates, to solve problems in different areas of application of psychological matters; understand and assess the functional and dysfunctional aspects of behaviour - both cognitive and emotional and relational - in different social contexts.

Making judgements

Ability to gather and interpret data in the fields of psychology to devise and evaluate, under supervision and scientific direction, interventions in complex situations, integrating knowledge with advanced methods of investigation, any basis of incomplete or limited information, thus producing autonomous judgments that include reflection on relevant social, scientific or ethical issues.

Communication skills

Ability to communicate with the social context, with those with deficits, with both specialists and non-specialists; communicate information relating to sciences and basic psychological techniques, the results of analysis of projects in place under the direction of qualified psychologists and health care personnel with leadership role.

Learning skills

Ability to update scientific knowledge or achieve a high degree of autonomy on cognitive and emotional processes, on the neuropsychological bases of human behaviour and on the methods of applying psychological techniques for intervention in the dynamics of human relationships, in the development of cognitive and affective processes, and evaluation of individual functioning and disability.

Examination regulations, assessment and grading

The results of each learning programme will be verified in written and / or oral form and throughg ongoing assessment with a mark out of thirty and and according to regulations in force.

Graduation requirements

Students must have accumulated the credits specified in the formative activities and have passed the relative examinations. The final exam involves submitting a written theoretical and/or clinical-experimental paper, supervised and coordinated by a course Professor. It may be in a foreign language.

 

Mode of study (full-time, part-time, e-learning, ...)

Full-time attendance is mandatory for 75% of disciplinary lectures. 

Occupational profiles of graduates with examples

Health and social services, local mental health facilities, research centres, public and private institutions, production and service associations and organizations, institutions responsible for the legal protection of children and adults in the areas of psychological techniques for social, organizational and working contexts, and in the service sector for individuals and the community. Access - after a post-graduate Internship - Qualifying Examination to be registered on Section B of the Professional Body of Psychologists, The course prepares students for the following professions: Specialists in human resources, social services technicians, technicians in charge of the reintegration of adult social integration.

 

Access to further studies

Undergraduates in Psychology and Techniques of mental processes are permitted to further their studies (Master’s degrees of class L.M.51).
