Specific admission requirements and specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning
Students wishing to enroll in the degree program must have a secondary school diploma or equivalent diploma attained abroad and recognized as suitable.
Profile of the programme
The program aims to provide students with a humanistic-literary preparation which will give them a basic knowledge of the fundamental principles of historic and cultural preservation and enable them to use the instruments related to the various branches of cultural activity. Graduates will have acquired a knowledge of theoretical methods, applicative tools and technologies for the classification, enhancement, and conservation of the various categories of cultural goods and assets as well as the skills necessary to working as mid-level professionals in public agencies and institutions responsible for the tutelage and management of our cultural heritage, but also in other sectors such as journalism, publishing, tourism, and communications.
Qualification requirements and regulations
This is a 3-year program. To be awarded the degree students must acquire 180 credits (ECTS credits). The average academic year work load is 60 credits. Each credit corresponds to an overall student time commitment of 25 hours, distributed as follows: 6 hours of classroom learning and 19 hours of individual study. The teaching and learning activities, scheduled to begin in the last week of September, are divided into semesters and may consist of lectures, seminars, exercises, and in specific cases, with the approval of the Degree Program Council, other forms of activity. Where necessary, individual or classroom tutoring, including computer-assisted learning, will be made available.
The courses may be divided into modules each of which will normally be attributed 6 ECTS credits.
For the purpose of evaluating student performance teachers may use written essay exams and/or objective tests, oral exams, discussion of student work products, the critical examination of texts, which will conclude with a written or oral exam with the attribution of a single final mark with respect to all the ECTS credits assigned to the course.
Key learning outcomes
Acquisition of the knowledge of the fundamental principles of historic and cultural preservation that will enable graduates to use the instruments related to the various branches of cultural activity. Examination regulations, assessment and grading
Exams for individual courses are oral exams before a commission of at least two teachers and are marked on a thirty point scale and, where appropriate, the attribution of honors.
Graduation requirements
The program degree is awarded upon completion of 180 credits and approval of the written thesis.
Mode of study (full-time, part-time, e-learning, ...)
Full-time enrollment and regular attendance is recommended. However, part-time enrollment is permitted, attendance is not obligatory, and students can choose the exam session in which to sit the exam.
Occupational profiles of graduates with examples
Graduates will be able to work as mid-level professionals in public agencies and institutions responsible for the tutelage and management of our cultural heritage, but also in other sectors such as journalism, publishing, tourism, and communications.
Access to further studies
The 3-year degree meets the requirements for admission to the master’s degree (second cycle degree) which are required for entrance to further certification programs for secondary school teachers.
