Specific admission requirements and specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning

The knowledge necessary for enrolment in the Advanced Degree course is acquired normally through completion of a first level degree, preferably in the class of degree 18 – Science of Economics and of Business Management. Acceptance in the Advanced program is, however, contingent upon verification of the candidate’s being in possession of the curricular requirements and his/her personal preparation. The curricular requirements must amount to at least 69 credits composed as follows: SECS-P/01, 9 ECTS credits; SECS-P/07, 12 ECTS credits; SECS-S/06 or SSD related, 6 ECTS credits; SECS-P/11, 6 ECTS credits; SECS-P/08, 9 ECTS credits; SECS-S01 or SSD related, 6 ECTS credits; IUS-01, 6 ECTS credits; IUS-04, 9 ECTS credits, L-LIN/12, 6 ECTS credits.

Candidates who have completed a three-year degree with a grade equal to or above 95/110 have the necessary requirements of personal preparation.

Candidates who have a grade inferior to that indicated are required to pass a test in order to ascertain their personal preparation. The test will take place in September of every year.

 

Profile of the programme

The Degree program in Business Administration and Legislation is designed to provide the student with a thorough knowledge of Business economics, economics, mathematics-statistics and law. Such knowledge will be acquired through a combination of subjects and learning methods. Students will also acquire the ability to face business problems from an integrated and specialized view point common to the higher ranks of management. It is, in particular, meant to provide thorough, qualified and specialized knowledge of a theoretical, methodological and technical-professional nature in administration, management, review and legal consultation in business. 

Qualification requirements and regulations

The Advanced Degree in BAL [ALEA] is a 2 year program during which the student must acquire 120 credits. It is a University degree in the class of The Science of Business Economics (class LM-77) and is designed to provide thorough, qualified and specialized knowledge of a theoretical, methodological and technical-professional nature in administration, management, review and legal consultation in business. Therefore, accounting and legal subjects play a fundamental role in this Advanced program. The course of studies is organized on a semester basis and instruction will be provided with frontal lessons, seminars, presentations and discussions of case studies, lectures delivered by directors and entrepreneurs (from both the private and public sectors), training and a final exam.

The degree course does not provide for curricula.

Key learning outcomes

Upon completion of the program the BAL graduates are able to analyze and comprehend in detail various administrative, accounting, management and review situations, as well as various aspects of commercial contracts, tax and corporate legislation. The constant balance of the different disciplines between theoretical content and technical/professional content allow graduates to apply their specialized and highly qualified knowledge to a large number of situations that concern companies. In order to enhance the learning experience many courses include practical exercises, discussions of case studies, lectures by entrepreneurs, managers and professionals, as well as seminars held by professors from other Italian and foreign universities.

 

Consequently, the theoretical, methodological and technical know-how acquired provide the BAL graduate with the necessary analytical instruments to make autonomous evaluations when confronting diverse problems of a managerial/administrative nature.

Furthermore, after completing the course work, the student will be able to communicate clearly and effectively, expressing ideas and solutions to problems that may arise in a variety of businesses and in diverse working environments. The student will develop an ability to interact in an international context thanks to his or her knowledge of the English language and to experiences acquired in the Erasmus program.

Graduation requirements

The Degree is granted upon the completion of 120 credits.

Mode of study (full-time, part-time, e-learning, ...)

Full time study is advised even though part time is acceptable. Attendance is not mandatory, though strongly advised.

Occupational profiles of graduates with examples

Graduates will find employment opportunities principally in high level positions in the area of administrative functions, accounting and management supervision in varied types of businesses. Additional positions are possible in consulting firms in the fields of finance, accounting, employment and revision. It is also possible, with respect to existing regulations, to enter the freelance profession as a Doctor of accounting and as a teacher.   

Access to further studies

The Advanced degree course allows ALEA[BAL] graduates to further their studies in a second level university Masters program and as Doctors of research in economics and management.
