Learning facilities
Students have access to a variety of study facilities at the University: IT laboratories, study rooms and libraries.
IT Laboratories
Most faculties have one or more IT labs where students have access to PCs with internet access during faculty opening hours. For more information on IT lab locations, opening times and username/passwords, please contact individual Faculties.
Study Rooms
Faculties also provide facilities for individual study in quiet study rooms. Students may use these rooms during Faculty opening hours.
Libraries
The Università degli Studi di Perugia's Library Services Centre (Centro Servizi Bibliotecari - CSB) has many branches, located at various Faculties in Perugia, and at Terni Teaching and Research Centre. Library staff offer bibliographic information services and research assistance relating to both bibliographic resources found in the University's collection as well as those resources not available at the University's libraries. In each library branch, there are areas dedicated to reading and viewing materials.
Library users may go directly to the bookshelves and take the materials they desire although some book collections are not directly accessible. In this case, users should ask the Library staff for assistance.
Since 1983, the University has had an electronic catalogue of its resource materials (monographs and periodicals). This catalogue can be accessed directly via the internet searching for the author's name, title, or keyword contained in the title. In case of difficulty, online help is also available. A paper catalogue is on hand, in some cases, for materials acquired prior to 1983. It is possible to access the catalogue directly at: http://centri.unipg.it/csb/biblioteche-e-cataloghi
Home loan is permitted only by some library branches, and restrictions may apply. For example, periodicals, encyclopaedias, dictionaries and textbooks may not be borrowed. The availability of items for home loan may be checked by simply sending a fax or an email. In addition, Inter-Library Loan allows users to locate, in other major Italian and foreign catalogues, materials which are not available through CSB. These materials may be then checked out on a temporary basis.
