Sport and leisures

The Università degli Studi di Perugia offers various sports services and facilities with the aim of supplementing students' study programmes with physical activity.

The "G. Bambagioni" University Sports and Recreation Complex

The "G. Bambagioni" Sports and Recreation Complex, also referred to by students as the "Country Club", is open to all University students and staff at a reduced rate. The complex is a modern structure which represents the University's dedication to the creation of an extensive sports complex. It is located just out of the city centre, a few minutes walk from the Veterinary Medicine and Agricultural Science faculties and has bus links to the city centre. "G. Bambagioni" is equipped with tennis courts, football pitches (for 7- or 5-a-side matches), beach volleyball courts, a pool used for swimming lessons and aqua-gym, recreational rooms, a games room for children, a club house, a café, a restaurant-pizzeria, TV rooms and rooms for holding meetings and private parties.

The University Swimming Pool

The University Pool is open to both University students and the residents of Perugia. The facility was recently improved after the completion of a significant structural and technological renovation and modernisation project.  There are two pools: one for adults, 25 metres in length and with 5 lanes; and the second, designated for children and rehabilitation activities.

University Sports Centre - CUS

CUS is a sports association which provides students with a variety of facilities and areas of open-space enabling them to practise various sports, whether for fun or at a competitive level. The sports and activities offered at CUS include: athletics, basketball, body building, boxing, chess, cross country/alpine skiing, dance, fencing, fitness, football, gymnastics, hiking, judo, karate, kick boxing and Savate, lacrosse, parachuting, personal defence, race-tracking, rugby, safe driving, sailing, swimming, taekwondo, tennis, target shooting, volleyball and wrestling. CUS also organizes winter and summer sports camps.

The University has agreements with sports facilities and centres located in other parts of the city where students can practise sports either free of charge or at a substantially reduced rate.

CUS Perugia is part of the national selection circuit for international tournaments and participates regularly in national university championships as well as in the intense "InterCUS" competitions, competitions against other Italian university sports centres.

By special arrangement, doctors and staff of the University's Centre for Sports Medicine are available to students for any necessary medical consultations.

Becoming a member of the centre costs €5 for students/€10 staff per year which entitles students to available discounts and offers. In order to join, students must take 2 passport-size photos, their university enrolment certificate and a medical certificate -"non agonistico" (non- competitive).
