BEYOND THE VEIL OF ISIS.
THE ANTHROPOCENE BETWEEN RISK AND ACCELERATED CHANGE
Risk, uncertainty, acceleration: the semantic universe through which we describe the changes of recent decades is increasingly wider. To this has been added a term, which has already become in common use and which has already raised a lot of public discussion: anthropocene. The anthropocene is the way in which we define the presumed first epoch in the history of our planet in which mankind has become a subject of (negative) impact on geological processes. The course intends to present a political look at the idea of nature and the way in which our conception of it has changed, starting from the text of Hadot (The Veil of Isis) to illustrate some of the issues of the anthropocene.
