Contents The aim of the present course is the study of theoretical and diagnostic approaches to psychopathology, with a particular focus on the psychodynamic perspective.

Educational objectives The main knowledge acquired in the present course will be:
- The guidelines of Developmental Psychopathology. Particular attention will be placed on a multifactorial comprehension of diseases, in line with the biopsychosocial perspective;
- The principal developmental disorders. Will be study in depth for each specific disorder the biological, cognitive-affective and interpersonal vulnerability;
- The most widespread manuals and diagnostic procedures, highlighting strengths and weaknesses;
- The main theories and models of personality;
- Personality disorders of cluster A, B, and C, deepening the psychodynamics understanding of the personality disorders

The main competence (the ability to apply the acquired knowledge) will be:
- Take into account the multiplicity and multifactorial nature of psychopathological disorders and the different developmental pathways;
- recognize the principal diagnostic systems;
- identify the main criteria that guide the diagnosis of psychopathology.
Prerequisites In order to be able to understand the different disorders and etiopathogenetic processes described within the course, it is important to knowledge the main psychodynamics theoretical models. This precondition is valid both for attending and not attending students
Teaching methods The course is organized as follows:
- lectures will deal with the issues of the course;
- Projections of video-clips in order to better comprehend the complexity of psychopathological processes.
Other information
Learning verification modality The exam consists in a written test.
The written test consists of:
- multiple choice questions in order to verify the level of the knowledge of the topics covered in the course;
- open-ended questions that explore different aspects of the program targeting both children, adolescents, and adult.
For the exam the student will have 90 ' minutes of time available. This test will serve to determine the level of knowledge, understanding and elaboration of the topics covered by the student.

Extended program The main aim of the present course is the study of theoretical and diagnostic approaches to general and developmental psychopathology, with a particular focus on the psychodynamic perspective.
Specific clinical disorders and personality disorders will be study in depth.

Contents The course aims to introduce students to the main models of developmental psychopathology, in a psychodynamic-oriented framework. Students will learn the guidelines of Developmental Psychology and some specific patterns of psychopathology. Vulnerability and resilience will be key concepts for the course. Specific attention is given to Affective disorders, Behavioral disorders; Attachment-related disorders, Autism spectrum disorder, and Personality disorders

Educational objectives The main aim is to provide knowledge and skills about the most representative and current debates on psychopathology in children, adolescents and adults
Prerequisites Knowledge about the main psychoanalytic models
Teaching methods The course will take place as face-to-face class for most of the topics

Educational objectives The main learning objectives of the present course are related to:
- Developmental Psychopathology’s guidelines in relation to a multifactorial understanding of disorders, according to the bio-psycho-social model;
- The contribution of psychodynamic theory at the understanding of psychopathology;
- The main developmental psychopathological disorders, risk and vulnerability factors, and developmental trajectories;
- The main personality theories and models;
- The main diagnostic manuals and procedures, of which strengths and weaknesses will be discussed;
- Eating disorders;
- Personality disorders.


The main competences (the ability to apply the acquired knowledge) will be to:
- Consider the multiplicity and multifactorial nature of psychopathological disorders and developmental pathways;
- Recognize and be able to use the diagnostic models illustrated during the course;
- Report the main diagnostic criteria of the psychopathological domains explained during the course.
Prerequisites It is fundamental to know the major psychodynamic theoretical models. This precondition is valid both for attending and not attending students.
Teaching methods Lectures, discussion of clinical cases, projection of brief video-clips.
Learning verification modality The exam consists in a written test, composed by:
- multiple choice and open-ended questions in order to verify the level of the knowledge of the topics covered in the course and the different aspects of the program.
Extended program The aim of the course is to provide information on the theoretical and diagnostic orientations related to developmental and general psychopathology, with a specific focus on the psychodynamic perspective. In the course, the guidelines of Developmental Psychopathology will be discussed, along with the main diagnostic models for children and adults. Moreover, different specific psychopathological domains will be discussed.
