Contents The Prison Law Clinic has as its object the prison system and the theoretical-practical study of its organization and functioning.
Reference texts The exam can be taken on the basis of the didactic material used for the lessons and case studies, which will be made available to students in Unistudium.
Educational objectives The aim of the Prison Law Clinic is to introduce students to the reality of the prison system, the dynamics of its management and the tools for protecting the rights of prisoners from an interdisciplinary perspective (philosophy and sociology of law, executive criminal justice, constitutional law and international protection of human rights).
Prerequisites To take the exam of the Prison Law Clinic, law students must have taken the exams in criminal law and criminal procedural law.
Teaching methods Lectures and workshops.
Other information The activities of the Prison Law Clinic are divided into three parts:

2. The "desk for rights in prison", through which the students, in small groups led by the teachers and tutors involved in the project, will go to the Perugia prison where they will meet the prisoners who have requested it to submit complaints and requests for information on their rights. Each group will immediately respond to the simplest requests for information. It will undertake to study the more complex cases and to report them to the interested party in subsequent meetings.
3. In the final part of the course, also for evaluation purposes, each student will have to report on a case dealt with during the desk activity.
Regular attendance of the course and, in particular, of the desk activities, will allow interested parties to acquire the related internship credits.
Learning verification modality Oral examination. Attending students will be assessed through a final interview which, starting from a case study, will focus on the topics covered during the lessons.
