Contents The course is organized into teaching modules related to each other and aimed at providing an integrated knowledge base in the architectural design of a building complex with high social compatibility. According to this approach, the organizational structure of the teaching program is divided into a theoretical part and a workshop carried out in work groups. The course, which will be complemented by conferences, workshops, seminar initiatives aimed at the understanding of the complex cultural, disciplinary and methodological interactions of architecture, is divided into theoretical lessons and practical exercises. Theoretical lessons will deal with the main architectural theories and compositional techniques with particular reference to the Modern Movement and the relationship between art and architecture.

Educational objectives The objective is to prepare the students to know how to manage the entire process that leads to the production of a quality building complex in a specific landscape and environmental context: from the concept idea anche the construction, to interactions with the territory, focusing attention on the conditions of habitability, on the consistency between type_morphological, structural, constructive, energy choices
Prerequisites Technical architecture 1 and 2; Architecture and Composition 1 and Design Lab of Arch. And Comp. 1
Teaching methods Theoretical lessons and practical exercises

Learning verification modality The individual examination consists of the discussion of the topics covered in the ex-cathedra lessons. The final evaluation is based on the oral exam and of the products related to the annual project. For admission to the oral exam, the student must have already delivered the work relating to the annual project
Extended program Course and application exercises
The topics of the application exercises, which will concern the main strategies illustrated in the theoretical lessons and the architectural design about the quality and low environmental impact building complex, will be assigned by the teacher. Group the students exams are allowed (max 3 students). In summary, the exercises, strictly aligned to the theoretical lessons, will be divided into two different phases: 1. the first phase will be dedicated to the study of the main strategies illustrated during the first teaching unit (through ex-tempore); 2. the second phase will concern the design of a quality building (to be set with bioclimatic criteria) in a specific environmental context. The area and the theme will be assigned by the teacher. Students will have to practice the use of freehand and line and square drawing and the production of small study models. Format of the drawings and models will be in A3. All drawings and study models produced during the course exercises and during the laboratory hours will be stamped and signed by the teacher and will be part of the dossier to be brought to the exam.

Revisions
The reviews will take place at the same time as the lessons or in any case on days and times communicated by the teacher.
The reviews will take place on the basis of all the material produced, even temporary.
Exam
The exam will consist of the presentation of the material produced for the exercises (single) and for the project (group).
In summary, the design work required for the Architecture and Composition 2 course and for the Architecture and Composition 2 design laboratory will consist of:
1. an A3 format dossier prepared with traditional representative techniques, consisting of textual comments, sketches, provisional works (which will be delivered in original hard copy) and including both exercises on compositional techniques and strategies and sketches and drawings of the creative phase the project of the building (single);
2. study models made on a rigid basis in A3 format (both those produced in the first and second phase_single);
3. project of the building complex with tables drawn in the Cad in A1 format (59.4 cm by 84.1 cm), including: 1: 500, 1: 200 planimetric framework, plans, elevations and sections in 1: 100 scale, diagrams bioclimatic and construction solutions in 1:50 scale, at least a 3D view and a final model in 1: 100 scale (the graphic designs must be laid out horizontally and must also be delivered on CD in the
DWG formats, complete with CTB, and jpg images: for each table there must be a folder complete with everything; the cover of the CD will contain the surname, first name, telephone number, student e-mail address, course name, academic year). In principle, the number of tables will be 3 tables for each component, which means that a group of 3 students must produce at least n. 9 boards (minimum). A greater number of tables are allowed to be agreed with the teaching team.
4. where required, each student must present a summary report on the contents of the supplementary seminar initiatives, which will be discussed during the examination

Contents The Laboratory, organized in lectures and practical exercises, has the objective of declining the general themes addressed in the AC2 Course on the main issues and critical issues of the assigned design theme. During the lessons the following topics will be addressed: the environmental issue and the reduction of the risk from climate change; adaptation and resilience in urban and suburban areas as a strategy for energy containment and seismic risk reduction; the theme of architectural form as a tool for improving energy and seismic performances; the relationship between form, design and construction.
