Educational objectives
Basic knowledge of Mandarin Chinese linguistics, and (oral and written) composition of simple sentences (HSK level 4: B2).
Prerequisites
Students can take third year Mandarin Chinese exam after they pass second year's one.
Teaching methods
Standard classes at Dipartimento (Palazzo S. Bernardo) plus classes taught by native Mandarin Chinese teachers at CLA.
Other information
The validity of the results of the written and oral exam at CLA is given by the CLA guidelines.
Erasmus students do not need to take "Chinese 3" exam, provided that the Commission in charge puts an equivalent exam in the learning agreement (replacing Chinese 3 exam).
Learning verification modality
CLA EXAM (before exam at Dipartimento)
- WRITTEN TEST (¿¿)
DICTATION (20 minutes)
Transcribe 15 sentences into Chinese characters (sentences used during class and in the book). This section is passed with 18/30.
COMPOSITION (1 hour): students have to write 15 sentences using 15 different given group words or fixed expressions (e.g.: a sentence containing ¿¿…¿¿…; a sentence containing ¿…¿…; etc.). Paper or electronic dictionaries are not allowed. This section is passed with 18/30 (each section is 2 marks).
The average mark between the two sections is the CLA mark.

- ORAL TEST (¿¿)
Students will randomly pick two units of "Buongiorno Cina" among those included in the program (even if it was not explained in class), then read the text of the unit without being helped by pinyin, close the book and summarize it in Mandarin Chinese, then discuss about the topic with the native teacher.

If the oral is not passed, the student has to repeat also the written test.

The CLA mark validity is decided by the CLA guidelines.

Students who only need a certification or “idoneità” will take both written and oral test at CLA.

NB: if the test is totally o partially online, some modalities could change accordingly.

DIPARTIMENTO EXAM
- WRITTEN TEST (¿¿)
TRANSLATION (1 hour)
Translation of a short text from Chinese to Italian.
Only the use of the paper dictionary is allowed.
The final mark is out of 30.

The Dipartimento mark at written tests is the average between the two sections.
Once the written test is passed, the oral test can be taken only in the same day.
NB. If exams will be online, the test will be online. The test must be passed before taking the oral test.

- ORAL TEST (¿¿)
Discussion on Chinese language, grammar, analysis and translation of sentences (already analyzed or new), examples. Random picking of one or more texts used during class: reading, analysis, and translation.
The mark is out of 30 and forms the average with the written part mark.

The final mark of the exam is the average mark of all the other sections.

If the oral in Dipartimento is not passed, the student has to repeat also the written test.

** Chinese students will only have the exam at Dipartimento: translation and oral test (no grammar section).
.
NB: if the test is totally o partially online, some modalities could change accordingly.

NB:
The exam is considered passed ONLY when the student passed every part of it.
•BOOKING THE EXAM IS COMPULSORY, STUDENTS WHO DID NOT BOOK THE EXAM WILL NOT BE TESTED.
•Please, check the official schedule issued by Dipartimento Lettere-Lingue and CLA
