Elements of Rational Mechanics. Lagrangian Mechanics: constraints and generalized coordinates, Hamilton's principle, Lagrangian equations, Lie's and Noether's symmetries, two-body problem. Hamiltonian Mechanics: Hamiltonian equations, Poisson brackets, canonical transformations, Hamilton-Jacobi theory.

A basic knowledge of Analytical Mechanics

Basic knowledge of euclidean geometry, calculus, algebra and classical mechanics
Teaching methods
Lectures and office hours.
Learning verification modality
Oral exam that includes solving exercises. Oral exam is extremely important. It allows the student to demonstrate her/his comprehension of the syllabus and to dialogue with the professor by using the appropriate scientific terminology.
