Educational objectives
Knowledge and description of the geological structures, from outcrop scale (structural geology) to global scale (plate tectonics).
Use of the stereographic projection. Reading of a geological map; devising a simple geological section.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledges of geography, mineralogy, stratigraphy, sedimentology and petrography, to be acquired in the courses of the I year and in the first semester of the II year.
Teaching methods
Lectures. Practice and exercises. E-learning procedures through Uni-Studium Platform.
Other information
All teaching materials are available for download on the Uni-Studium Platform, which is also used as the main tool for teacher-students communications.
The teacher can be also contacted at the following e-mail address: massimiliano.barchi@unipg.it.
Learning verification modality
The exam consists of a practical/graphical part (lasting about 2 hours), followed by an oral exam (lasting about 30 minutes), where the student is asked to discuss critically the main theoretical topics included in the course program.
