Introduction to the use of molecular tools in faunistic management. Molecular methodologies as PCR, restriction enzymes, PCR-RFLP, AFLP, microsatellite, DNA Barcoding and SNPs: theory and practical applications. Microsatellite enriched genomic library. Museum historical collections: importance as scientific tool. DNA extraction from conservative and historical samples. Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Mutation and migration indexes. Selection and fitness. Inbreeding. Coefficients I, F, F statistics. On-line databases. Resolution of taxonomic ambiguity - practical examples: trout. Molecular evaluation of a species complex: Baetis rhodani complex. Conservative approach to Perdix in repopulation stock.Molecular evidences on Squalus albus. Relationships between AF, environmental data and molecular characterization. DUI. PCR-RFLP as a tool to individuate food mystifications. Practical applications: cladograms, phylograms. Local molecular taxonomy.
