Contents Main concepts of orthopedics and traumatology. Ethiopathogenesis, pathological anatomy, diagnosis and treatment of the main orthopedic pathologies and traumatic lesions of the locomotor system with particular reference to the techniques of instrumental diagnosis

Educational objectives knowledge of the basic elements of the main orthopedic and traumatological diseases and in particular of the methods of pre, intra and post operative instrumental diagnosis

Learning verification modality The exam involves a written test with multiple choice questions concerning the different thematic areas that characterize the teaching or one
oral test which consists of a discussion on the subjects of the teaching aimed at ascertaining the level of knowledge, the understanding and synthesis capacity achieved by the student as well as verifying the acquisition of method, language properties and exposure.

The interview lasts about 15/30 minutes. varies in relation to the progress of the test itself.
Extended program general concepts of orthopedics. Main tissues and organs of the musculoskeletal system: biological and biomechanical characteristics.
Congenital dysplasia of the hip, clubfoot and congenital torticollis.
Perthes disease and other osteochondrites. Epiphysis. Flatfoot. Hallux valgus.
Tendinopathies: general concepts of ethiopathogenesis, pathological anatomy, diagnosis and treatment. Main tendinopathies.
Femoral head necrosis.
Arthrosis: general concepts. Coxarthrosis, gonarthrosis, osteoarthritis of the ankle and hands, osteoarthritis of the spine, cervical and lumbar.
Disc diseases and lumbar and cervical disc herniation.
Kyphosis and scoliosis
Types of traumatic lesions of the musculoskeletal system.
General information on fractures. Immediate, early and late complications.
Main fractures of the spine, pelvis, lower limb and upper limb.
Ligament injuries of ankle and knee, meniscal injuries.
Shoulder instability. Shoulder conflict syndrome and rotator cuff injury.
main concepts of first and second level diagnostic methods.
Role of the radiology technician in the operating room.
