- Anthropology i.e., demoethnoanthropological sciences (where demo stands for "demology," ethno stands for "ethnology" as it deals with the study of diversity in Italian-European and non-European contexts) is a knowledge of human experience and therefore approaches the subject of childbirth from at least three points of view that are not biological: 1) The cultural point of view (depending on the contexts in which it takes place); 2) The social point of view (depending on the relational, collective dimension; 3)The bodily point of view (because of the processes of embodiment related to points one and two).

Educational objectives Train midwives and obstetricians to be able to know from the cultural side the knowledge that arises from the flesh-and-blood experience of new births. Culture is a load-bearing concept in anthropology and will be mastered by students and learners.
Midwives in particular, sharing such experience from the body side, have an embedded mimesis that has to be studied through the concept of "reflexivity." That is, reflexivity will be studied as a critical-cultural methodology of the anthropology of childbirth to educate midwives and make them anthropologically competent
Prerequisites Perfect knowledge of Italian language

Extended program The course aims to give a brief overview on the transformation of the family in Italy after the economic, legal, social and cultural rights that occurred between the late 60s and early 70s of the twentieth century. The idea of the traditional family has now been replaced by the plural concept of "family", in which they move men, women and children with roles and expectations constantly evolving compared to the incessant changes typical of post-industrial societies today defined or after-modernity. In this framework fits our investigation around the issues concerning in particular the traditional "art of getting" the Italian family that moves today in an increasingly complicated web of Daily Times and changed intergenerational balance. It is believed that the topic treated in this way can be of help to the / to the students / them of this CdS to have a clearer idea of what might be scenarios in which you will have to confront in their professional future and relational.
