Educational objectives
The course aims to provide the necessary tools to properly interpret the morphology of livestock animals. It also allows to well understand the proper management of animal populations and to know the producing ability of the main breeds in order to achieve the economic income. In this way the student can be properly introduced in the real animal farming enterprise in order to take decisions on judging animals, choosing breeds and managing productive and reproductive traits.
Prerequisites
The exam of Livestocks Anatomy is considered a prerequisite to understand the fundamental aspects of the course, moreover percentage computing and fractions operations are fundamental skills.
Teaching methods
The class teaching will be: classroom lectures for all the studied matters; tutorials:- in morphological evaluation - specific educational tools in classroom, on farm practical morphological scoring;- in ethnology -slides and other material useful to show the studied breeds, farm visits to watch the main studied breeds;- in demography - problems on practical farm reproductive or productive decisions.
Other information
Attendance at lessons: optional but strongly advised.
Learning verification modality
A written exemption test is scheduled on the part of the Morphological scoring system (1.5 CFU) consisting of 8 multiple choice questions and 2 open-ended questions. It is optional for the student to take this exemption test. Time to take the test 1 hour.

The final examination consist in ongoing evaluation. The write exam (30 minutes) will test the skills on structure and dynamic factors of domestic animal populations. The oral exam will test the communication skills of the student with properties of language and the ability to apply the skills acquired.
