- Contents
- In this course, several topics with chemical content and which are suitable for pupils of primary schools will be suggested. To this end, we will first outline the underlying concepts of the microscopic structure of matter and then describe and elaborate possible educational paths. There will be some emphasis on the basis of the scientific method and the natural or otherwise common phenomena in everyday life that have a clear chemical connotation.
- Reference texts
- Slides from the teacher
- Educational objectives
- tudends who have followed this course will: 1) know how to set learning units with a chemistry content in the primary school 2) be able to perform simple experiments or explain phenomena common in everyday life (cooking food, detergents).
- Prerequisites
- To follow the course, students must master those simple basic aspects of chemistry that are taught in high school.
- Teaching methods
- Seminar lectures with audiovisual material. If is possible we will do some multimedial learning units, like LO

- Learning verification modality
- The exam is divided into two parts. In the first part, a questionnaire with 10 closed questions and 5 open questions will be administered, followed by (if judged sufficient) a second oral part.
The oral exam (in about 15/20 minutes) consists in the preparation and presentation in the classroom of a teaching unit, including the simulation of a frontal lesson, on a topic related to one of the following themes: 1) The Scientific Method; 2) Atoms and Molecules; 3) The States of Aggregation; 4) The Properties of the Solutions; 5) The Water Cycle; 6) The Air.
The presentation of the teaching unit must be contextualized and must be clearly specified: the contents, objectives, prerequisites, teaching methods and methods of verification. The exam will continue with the simulation of a lesson, taking a topic among those foreseen within the chosen didactic unit.
The oral exam will also allow to verify the student's communication skills with language properties and autonomous organization of the exposition of the topics. - Extended program
