Educational objectives
The course aims as main objective to know purposes and functions of the library. The main skills that students will acquire: outlines of library history, knowledge of the basic elements of Library science. The present and the future of the Bibliography. The main skills that allow you to apply the knowledge gained will be: know how to use the tools (catalogs, bibliographic databases, etc.) and library services.
Prerequisites
In order to be able to understand how to tackle the course, students must have cultural and historical basic notions; these are notions that the student should have already aquired in his/her school curriculum.
Teaching methods
The course is organized as follows: lectures on all course's topics; workshop. If necessary, blended teaching will be used, in synchronous and/or asynchronous mode.

Learning verification modality
The exam includes the final oral test consisting of a discussion-interview on the topics discussed during the course and examined in depth through recommended texts. The test aims at assuring the level of knowledge and understanding, as well as synthesis, achieved by the student. Moreover, this interview will verify that the student is able to communicate, with method, propriety of language on the performance of the test itself and begins, as a rule, with a subject of the student's choice in order to put him at ease. Extended program
The course examines the present and the future of the bibliography and the functions and organization of the public library in the digital age. Introduces definitions and more information about the Digital era and the Information and Knowledge Society. Emphasis will be placed on public libraries' functions and organization. Workshop: activities were designed to provide students with the opportunity to gain experience using the library catalog and bibliographic databases.
