Educational objectives The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to use epidemiologic methods in the health services research and in the planning of health services

Extended program Health needs assessment: role and use of health indicators, crude, specific and standardized rates and descriptive epidemiologic studies. Study of the causes: role of epidemiologic analytic studies and causality assessment. Assessment of health interventions: role of indicators of the health systems performance and of experimental study designs

Rereading life experiences in the light of the concepts of health promotion and Salutogenesis
Recognizing Health as a complex object that does not end with the field of biomedicine, but is defined through the interactions between the individual, society and the environment.
Recognize the limits of the biomedical paradigm in promoting and protecting the health of individuals and communities, locally and globally
Know the theoretical approach of social determinants and their impact on local and global health and disease processes
Recognize the proximal and distal determinants of a disease.
Analyze the problems of health and disease, of individuals and populations, through the approach of social determinants.
Know the concept of inequality and inequalities in health and the economic, cultural and social mechanisms that have generated and reproduce them.
