Contents Description of chemical and biological wastewater treatment processes.

Overview of the different methods and technologies used to control the release of air pollutants from urban and industrial sources.

Appropriate methods of storage, collection, transfer, treatment and disposal of solid wastes for industrialised and developing countries.

Educational objectives Acquisition of skills in the field of waterwaste and air emission monitoring and purification, and of waste protection and management techniques.
Prerequisites - Concepts of chemical equilibrium and chemical kinetics; - Knowledge of
inorganic chemistry;
- Knowledge of organic chemistry;
- Knowledge of the concepts of repartition between phases.
- Knowledge of the basic concepts of Environmental Chemistry.
Teaching methods Lessons, field work sessions (sampling of environmental matrices) and educational visit to a water purification plants and to an remote atmospheric monitoring station.
