- The fundamentals of the sociology of work and organization.
Study and analysis of the labour market.
The birth of the sociology of work, the main theories of organizational sociology, the industrial question, Taylor and Ford, Human Relations, the socio-technical approach, the Toyota model, Total Quality Management, post-Fordism, flexibility and precarity.
Organizational metaphors and models, the study of leadership styles, conflict and negotiation, climate, culture and motivation at work.
The course also delves into the sociological and cultural approach to the theme of safety in the workplace, highlighting the importance of prevention, quality of working life and organizational well-being as objectives to be pursued in the workplace in order to contain risks.
The concept of risk linked to the new post-Fordist forms of work, the concepts of psychological and social risk (work-related stress, mobbing and burn-out) are explored, and then the current legislation on safety at work, the importance of prevention, the internal climate and the quality of working life are analysed. The organizational aspects of safety at work are also explored through the study of human resources management, the development of human resources management policies, with a view to greater autonomy, participation and shared responsibility for safety at work and organizational wellbeing. - Reference texts

- During the three-year period, this course provides an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the sociology of work and organization and to grapple with the study and methodologies of labour market analysis.
The main knowledge acquired concerns: the birth of the sociology of work, the main theories of sociology of organization, the industrial question, Taylor and Ford, Human Relations, the socio-technical approach, the Toyota model, Total Quality Management, post-Fordism, flexibility and precariousness.
Other knowledge concerns the study of organizations, in particular: metaphors and organizational models, the study of leadership styles, conflict and negotiation, climate, culture and motivation at work.
Finally, knowledge also covers socio-economic issues: the birth and development of the labour market, the segments that make it up: women, young people, immigrants, the unemployed, the neet, etc. Sources for studying the labour market.
The course also aims to provide the cognitive basis of the management of well-being at work through sociological and cultural competences in the management and prevention of safety in the workplace. The main knowledge students acquire at the end of the course is related to the topic of organizational safety and security.
In particular:
- knowledge of the main Italian regulations and of the various figures who are called upon to deal with safety in the workplace;
- knowledge of prevention and of the main psychological and social risks at work;
- knowledge of the concept of organizational well-being and organizational climate and culture;
- knowledge of organizational communication and the stages of training processes. - Prerequisites
- Basics of general sociology that will be covered in the introductory lectures.
- Teaching methods
- The prevailing teaching method involves lectures in the classroom (or on Microsoft Teams for those entitled) aided, if necessary, by multimedia tools; in-depth e-learning on the unistudium platform is also provided. Video screenings. In-depth seminars where possible.

- The examination comprises a final written test that serves to ascertain the student's level of knowledge and capacity for comprehension and revision.
The test will verify what has been acquired in terms of method, language property and comprehension skills.
In order to take the exam it is compulsory to book the exam through the Unipg esse3 system, both for students enrolled in the course and for students who intend to take the exam as an elective and therefore coming from another course of study.
