- Today, we live in a world of increasing globalization and people and economies are strongly interdependent as never before. Despite this, our land appears as a collage of countries in which multiple religions, ethnic groups with the most diverse languages, customs, traditions, economies coexist, so much so as to make the globe a set of different places. Therefore, this Geography course will focus on the physical-geographical characteristics of the world system in its countless facets determined by the relationship between man and the environment in its interaction between society and territory. In fact, the object of study will be the evolution and general characteristics of the discipline, the growth of imbalances between strong and weak areas, in a period of increasing globalization that affects immigration and its effects on the socio-economic and health environmental context. We will focus on specific aspects, in the general economy of the course, relating to the reality of the countries whose language is studied, in addition to the peculiar geographical characteristics of the territory of Umbria, the region that hosts us, in order to have a better knowledge of it.
- Educational objectives
- To provide students with the necessary tools for the correct understanding of the relationship existing, in the complex, between man and the environment and, in particular, between society and territory in the complexity of the world system with references also to specific problems of the country whose language is studied, starting from the examination of the salient characteristics of the territory of our region Umbria.
