- The course provides knowledge regarding the physiology of both male and female buffalo reproduction, the factors that most frequently influence the reproductive performance of this species and describes the managerial techniques to increase the fertility and productivity of buffalo breeding, also making reference to the activities of the teacher's research in this field.
- Educational objectives
- The course takes into consideration thebuffalo an animal species generally poorly treated in Veterinary Medicine courses, with the aim of allowing the student to perfect the basic theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the management of the reproduction of this species. In accordance with the training objectives of the Course (SUA A4.a) and the employment opportunities identified for the same (SUA A2.a), the training objectives envisaged for the Reproductive Management course in buffalo breeding are:
Q1. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND. The student will have to implement knowledge on the reproductive physiology and business management of this species.
D2. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING. The student must be able to carry out an assessment of the estrous cycle, the sexual receptivity of the female, the BCS and the nutritional status of the animal's well-being. And you must know how to take blood samples for hormonal assessments. The student must also be able to orient himself in the techniques of artificial insemination and natural breeding.
Q3. INDEPENDENCE OF JUDGMENT.

- The student following the course is in the fifth year of his university career and must possess all the knowledge necessary to understand and be able to apply the contents covered in the CIP. However, to take advantage of the best teachings, knowledge of anatomy, reproductive physiology, nutrition, infectious and parasitic diseases and modest knowledge of livestock management are required.
