Contents Biotechnologies that use immunological tools in the study, diagnosis and therapy of human pathology, with a selection of the most advanced immunological, cellular and molecular tools.

Educational objectives Knowledge of the immune system and the main immunological approaches in the biotechnology sector.
Prerequisites Cell biology and signal transduction. Cells of the innate and specific immune system. Basic mechanisms of the immune response.
Teaching methods Frontal lessons, inverted classes.

Extended program - Microbiota: definitions, general characteristics, gastrointestinal microbiota, respiratory microbiota, oral microbiota, the microbiome biotech landscape - Innate Immune System: macrophages and macrophage-based therapies, dendritic cells and dendritic cell-based therapies, innate immune receptors and receptor-ligand engineering, cytokines and cytokine therapeutics, NK cells and NK cell-based therapies. Adaptive Immune System: lymphoid organs and organ-on-a-chip technology, T cells and CAR-T cells, B cells and antibodies, monoclonal antibodies and antibody humanization, antibody-drug conjugate, bispecific antibodies, Fc-fusion proteins, nanobodies.
