Contents
It is intended to train the students with knowledge of the main theories of culture and communication, focusing in particular on the problems of cultural capital, social capital and the knowledge and information society. In this context, the course also aims to offer students the study of the new social imprints emerging in communication processes and the problems of inequalities. In the light of these premises, the course builds a critical path by proposing a reading of cultural and communicative processes as a possible meeting place between different heritages and perspectives also with reference to religions. Through a series of keywords, we intend to articulate a vocabulary that allows students to orient themselves in the international perspective of the recent critical debate on the issues of intercultural relations including religions. At the end of the course, the student will know the sociological dimension of the concept of culture in reference to the different " knowledge" and will be able to bring the problem of identity and identity conflicts of global society back to the cultural dimension. Particular attention will be given to the idea of human security.

Extended program
The objective is to introduce students to the sociological understanding of cultural phenomena and
communicative. In particular, the course intends to provide - also through the vision of visual texts - adequate
knowledge about the theories, approaches, processes and contents of the different forms assumed by sociology
of culture. For this reason we believe it is essential to carry out an excursus which, starting from the concept of
culture and relativism, and passing through the birth of modern societies and nineteenth-century metropolises, arrives
up to the cultural phenomena of the last century. The aim is to arrive and center its didactic action
especially around contemporary communication processes.
