Lectures will focus on the principal authors and works of political thought from the XVI Century to the present.

Educational objectives
The course aims at providing the fundamental elements about political theories and their historical development. The course aims also at providing the capability of analysing political texts.
Prerequisites
Essential knowledge of modern and contemporary history, history of philosophy.

Class attendance is strongly recommended.
Learning verification modality
For students who attend the course, assessment consists of one mid-course and one final written exam, each one lasting about 90 minutes. The purpose of the exam is to ascertain the level of individual students' knowledge of program contents and their ability to express them in a clear and appropriate manner.
Non-attending students must sit a single oral exam, lasting about 30 minutes, with questions on the contents of the texts assigned in the program.
