Part I
1. Sociology as a social science.
Definition of sociology; sociology and other social sciences; sociological method; theory and social research.
2. Sociology and modern world
The advent of modernity (Comte, Tocqueville, Marx, Durkheim, Weber, Simmel); modernity in question (symbolic interactionism, functionalism, sociology of knowledge, critical theory, phenomenological sociology, structuralism); globalized modernity.

1a. Social services in Umbria: birth, development and future prospects (Degree Course in Social Services).
1b.The question of youth: a study of Perugia (other Degree Courses).
