- Educational objectives
- Students learn to obtain basic musculoskeletal ultrasound images commonly performed in the horse.
- Prerequisites
- In order to understand and to apply the procedures required in this course, it is necessary to have passed the exams of Veterimanry Surgical Semeiotics and Pathology and Veterinary Surgery I. For some topics the ability to obtain and interpret basic ultrasound images of the limb of the horse will be required to passthe course with profit.
- Teaching methods
- The CIP is organized as follows:
exercises in the ambulatory rooms of dell'OVUD. According to the number, students will be divided into two or three groups and as a group will take place directly on the patient the diagnostic procedure (two hours), the other group will follow with the course material (slides) the various steps to be used to address diseases addressed in the CIP and correctly interpret the ultrasound images (two hours) under the teacher's supervision - Other information
- This course includes also complementary didactic activity represented by meetings and seminars with PhD students, interns and students by planning and agreeing with the student during the CIP

- Not applicable. This course considers only the presence at the professional course.
- Extended program
- The CIP foresees the carrying out of practical activity of equine diagnostic ultrasoundto be developed on didactic horses, on anatomical specimens and on ultrasound images of the horse. Acquisition of basic ultrasound scan of the pastern, metacarpus, fetlock and stifle of the horse.
Description and interpretation of the images through writing of a diagnostic report.
