The practical course will include:
Evaluation of the patient's algebraic state;
Local anesthesia: Local anesthetics. Topical anesthesia for infiltration, tronculation, paravertebral, epidural, spinal.
Multiday analgesic concepts in pets.
Accidents and complications in the course of anesthesia and their treatment.

Educational objectives
The cip is the ultimate step to completing the student's ability to interpret diagnostic and evaluation aspects of acute and chronic pain in pets. The main objective of cip is to provide via practical or seminar sessions the basics to deal with some diseases or pathologies that induce acute or chronic pain and implement appropriate therapies aimed at their analgesic management. The cip will also allow the student to
The main acquired knowledge will be focused above all for patient evaluation; Surgical preparation arthroscopy and equine tenoscopy. Patient evaluation; Surgical preparation internal fixation and rigid bandages Radiographic and ultrasound equine foot and treatment of certain conditions of common interest (navicular, penetrating and laminite wounds).
The main skills (ie the ability to apply the acquired knowledge) will be the acquisition by the student to handle practically orthopedic cases from diagnosis to surgical therapy
Prerequisites
Surgical Pathology, Veterinary Physiology and Veterinary Pharmacology. n order to understand the topics in question, it is desirable that the student has achieved the appropriate knowledge in the field of Veterinary Anaesthesia.
Teaching methods
The cip will be organized as follows:
Introductory theoretical part of 4 hours;
Exercises in the surgical rooms and outpatient clinics of UHUD surgery (12 hours).
Students by number will be divided into three to four groups.
All groups will be allowed to perform diagnostic procedures for the recognition and treatment of acute / chronic pain directly on the patient through the use of clinical cases in OVUD
Other information
The following topics will also be discussed: how to communicate effectively with customers, the public, professional colleagues and competent authorities; Prepare accurate, accurate medical records for pain assessment including customer records, patient reporting, and clinical visit in detail and one or more pain scales; In addition, the student will be educated on how to gather an accurate and relevant anamnesis of the individual animal. Practical information will be given on: how to manipulate and contain animal patients safely but respecting the dignity of the animal; Complete a clinical examination and demonstrate decision-making ability in a clinical setting; Understand the contribution that diagnostic images and other diagnostic techniques can provide to achieve anesthetic and pain relief protocol; Perform anesthesia / analgesic planning specifically for that particular clinical case. If necessary, guidance will be given on how to prepare reports for clinical cases in a satisfactory form for colleagues. The following topics will also be addressed: helping the student to understand and apply the principles of clinical management and to act according to the criteria of veterinary medicine based on evidence; To use their professional skills to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in veterinary anesthesia, in order to improve the quality of care of animals subjected to anesthesia.
Learning verification modality
There is no a traditional profit test, but there is an in-depth assessment (questions and interaction with students in the lesson) about the student's knowledge of basic principles for the treatment of chronic and acute pain and resolution Of the anesthesiological clinical case as a whole. The final judgment will be expressed with a candidate's "fitness".
Extended program
The Cip program includes practical lessons performed directly on patients (dogs, and cats) under ovarian steroectomy, detartrate or nodulectomy.
During the CIP, the following topics will be addressed:
Definition of anesthesia and analgesia: with particular regard to physiopathology and pharmacological control of pain. 2 hours;
Clinical and instrumental monitoring (capnography, pulse oximetry, ECG, oscillometry, anesthetic gas analysis, spirometry, etc.) of the patient. 2 hours;
Clinical aspects concern preanesthetic examination and patient preparation. 2 hours
Local anesthesia: Local anesthetics. Topical anesthesia for infiltration, tronculation, paravertebral, epidural, spinal. 2 hours
Balanced anesthesia concepts with particular reference to the possible combinations between injected anesthetics and inhaled anesthetics (volatile liquids and gases). 2 hours
Accidents and complications during anesthesia and their treatment. 2 hours
Methods of administration with reference to anesthetic machines and respiratory anesthetic systems. 4 hours
