Contents
1. Histological techniques:
- behavioral rules in a histology laboratory; personal and environmental safety management (1h);
- preparation of cell and tissue specimens for cyto/histomorphological, cyto/histochemcal, immuno cyto/histochemical analysis (8h);
- principles of immunofluorescence (3h).
2. Principles of Electronic Microscopy:
- preparation of samples for electron microscopy (5h);
- observation at Trnsmission (TEM) and /or scanning (SEM) electron microscope (2h);
3. Morphological study of cultured cells:
- how to work in a cell culture lab; staff flow, behavioral rules, sterility cleanliness and management (1h);
- cell isolation and cell culture manipulation (3h).
- preparation of cells for microscopic observation (2h).

Educational objectives
At the end of the course, the student will know how to process cytological and histological specimens for microscopic observation and will be able to apply this knowledges to specimen preparation.

The course is exclusively practical so the lessons will be held in the laboratory and will cover the topics detailed in the program.
