Contents
The course will consist of a preliminary analysis of the history of translation studies so that the student can have the basis to perform, where necessary, a contrastive analysis between languages and theories.

Subsequently, the student will be faced with the major problems inherent, not only in the translation process tout cours but also in the individual text types. In fact, in order for the student to become better acquainted with the subject will be analyzed some types of texts (prose, poetry, song, etc.) through which will be illustrated from time to time problems and related strategies (almost) solutions.
Particular space will be given, precisely by virtue of the two-faced nature of the discipline, the translation being a theory that needs a practice and a practice in absolute dependence on the theory; another aspect will be the comparison of Italian texts in Portuguese translation and Portuguese texts translated into Italian.

In this work, students will be asked to put themselves at stake both individually and in groups in order to fully understand the difficulty but also the beauty of translating.

Educational objectives
The aim of the course is to examine the theoretical and practical aspects of translation from the Portuguese language, and its variants, towards Italian languag. Particular focus will be dedicated to the discipline both as a subject of reflection and as a possible professional outlet.

Lectures and seminars in which the participation of students is absolutely required
Learning verification modality
The examination will be divided into two phases. The first phase requires students to write a paper commenting on a translation chosen among those proposed by the teacher who will be given a score in thirty. The coherence, adequacy, correctness and exhaustiveness of the paper will be the beginning of the oral interview that will focus on the choices, motivations and reflections of the examination and on the theoretical principles of the theory of translation; at the end will be assigned a second vote, always expressed in thirtieths. The mathematical mean of the above grades will constitute the final grade for the part of this course.
