Contents
This course is designed for A1-level students of Russian. It aims at providing students with communicative skills in the language corresponding to level A2+ in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR A2+).

Educational objectives
The course aims to develop linguistic and communicative skills in Russian language corresponding to A2+ level of CEFR.
A specific knowledge will be developed in:
- morphosyntactic system of the Russian language corresponds to level A2+;
- critical and theoretical elements related to interlingual translation.
Main skills:
- understanding and producing texts in Russian (level A2+);
- translating from Russian into Italian and vice versa;
- understanding and using correctly the grammar of Russian;
- theoretical reflection on the operation of translating from English to Russian and vice versa.
Prerequisites
The course of Russian Language II is intended for students who have successfully completed the exam of Russian Language I.
Topics covered in the module require knowledge of Russian language corresponding to level A1 of the European Common Framework of Languages (CEFR A1).
Students have to possess basic linguistic and communicative skills in oral and written Russian, together with fundamental morphosyntactic structures of the Russian language. They have to be able to understand simple dialogues and written texts in Russian; interact in a simple way with native speakers; use everyday expressions and basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of concrete needs (indispensable prerequisites).
These prerequisites are valid both for attending and not attending students.
Teaching methods
The course is organized as follows:
- linguistic practical training held by a native language teacher at CLA;
- classroom lectures on all the topics to be covered, class will be held by the professor who is in charge for the entire course (it is possible to attend the lectures in mixed mode);
- ongoing evaluations
Other information
Attendance: at least 75% of lessons.
To be admitted to the examination, students who do not attend classes must arrange in advance an alternative program with the course professor.
Learning verification modality
To attend the exam at the Department students must have already passed the test of Russian Language II at CLA (University Language Centre).
The exam includes a written test and an oral exam.
The written test consists of a grammar and vocabulary exercise, a text comprehension exercise, as well as a written composition on a given topic, based on those covered during the course. During the grammar and vocabulary exercise the use of dictionary is not allowed. Duration: two hours.
The oral exam consists of a discussion of the written test, a presentation of a grammar topic (chosen by professor), a reading and translation of a short text from Russian into Italian or viceversa (A2 level). Students have also to demonstrate that they have read, understood and translated about 50 pages in Russian (prose, poetry, articles, essays, etc.). They have to answer questions on grammar and will discuss briefly the texts they have read in Russian.
The examination verifies that students have achieved linguistic communicative competence corresponding to A2+ (CEFR A2+).
The final grade is the average of the marks obtained in the various tests.
Extended program
This course is designed for A1-level students of Russian. It aims at providing students with communicative skills in the language corresponding to level A2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR A2+).
The course is divided into two parts: practical training and conversation held by a native-language teacher at the CLA, and lectures given by the course professor at the Department.
