Educational objectives
Knowledge of main activities of Pathological Anatomy. Knowledge of risk factors and pathological bases of main deseases of cardiovascular system. Knowledge of risk factors of  colon-rectal cancer and breast cancer. The main skills will be: how send a sample to pathological anatomy and how to intepret a histology and citology report.

- To frame anesthesia as "perioperative medicine" aimed at protecting the patient from surgical trauma.
- Run BLS-D.
- Know the strategies to stabilize vital functions and prevent post-anoxic brain damage
- Monitor the patient and manage respiratory support.
- Be able to monitor acute and chronic algic syndromes.
Prerequisites
In order to understand the contents of the lessons and the learning objectives, the student must have a solid foundation of physiology, pathophysiology and clinical pharmacology, as well as the ability to integrate information from different disciplinary sectors.
Teaching methods
Frontal lessons, exercises on dummy, attendance in the Operating Room, in Intensive Care and in the outpatient clinics of Pain Medicine.

- Breast: Clinical and instrumental semiotics, fibrocystic disease, benign and malignant neoplasms

- Venous vessels: semiotics and instrumental esamim, varices, thrombo embolic disease (thrombophlebitis and venous thrombosis)

- Arterial vessels: semiotics and instrumental tests, emboli, aneurysms, arterial leg

- Endocrine system: thyroid gland (thyroiditis, hyperthyroidism, goiter, tumors), adrenal (of surgical diseases), the parathyroid glands (hyperparathyroidism)

At the end of the course the student must be able:

to know the organizational aspects of an operating unit;

to develop nursing care plans for the person who is to undergo general and specialized surgery;

to ensure post-operative pain relief for the patient;

to ensure the correct execution of surgical wound dressing and management of surgical drains;

to ensure patient safety in the prevention of the main surgical complications;

to ensure patient safety in infection prevention related to health care in surgery;

to educate the patient in the correct management of the colostomy / ileostomy /urostomy.

Written test: examination of the student’s knowledge acquired during the lessons and his
ability to formulate and apply a care plan starting from the assessment, then identifying
nursing diagnoses, collaborative problems and potential complications in surgical care
