Contents RESPIRATORY DISEASES: Vital signs; systematic examination of the chest and the lungs; in depth discussion of common clinical manifestation observed during lung inspection; Norman and abnormal sputum production;pulmonary function study (spirometry); obstructive and restrictive lung diseases; asthma; COPD; pneumonia; interstitial lung diseases; lung cancer; cystic fibrosis; hypoxemic respiratory failure (type I and II); disorders of the pleura and the chest wall; pulmonary vascular diseases; pulmonary embolism; pulmonary hypertension.
CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES: coronary heart disease; heart valve disease; endocarditis; pericardial diseases; cardiac arrhithmias; heart failure; cardiomyopathies.

Educational objectives Knowledge of the main cardio-respiratory diseases: from etiopathogenesis to diagnosis, therapy and clinical prognosis.

Other information
Learning verification modality the exams consists of a writtentest in form of multiple choice test. The test has a duration of 40minutes (30 questions). It is designed to evaluate the ability to correctly apply the theoretical knoledge and the understanding of the issues proposed.
Extended program Study and interpretation of the respiratory and cardiovascular function - Obstructive respiratory disease: bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchiectasis. - Restrictive respiratory pathology: pulmonary interstitial diseases, thoracic and neuromuscular pathologies. - Respiratory pathology on an infectious basis: bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, pneumonia, pulmonary tuberculosis. - Respiratory pathology on a vascular basis: pulmonary thromboembolism, pulmonary infarction - Neoplastic respiratory diseases: benign and malignant tumors of the lung, pleura and mediastinum - Respiratory failure (definition, pathophysiological mechanisms, classification, clinical and functional, principles of treatment). - Heart valve diseases (Stenosis and insufficiency of the mitral, aortic, tricuspid, pulmonary valve) - Arrhythmias: Definition, mechanisms, - Hypertrophic, dilated cardiomyopathies, - Ischemic heart disease: Acute and chronic coronary syndromes. - The pericarditis. Myocarditis. Endocarditis - Heart failure. - Acute and chronic pulmonary heart. - Hypertension.
