- Value of information in decision processes: comprehensiveness and power of expression. Macro and micro
level data. Source of data: official statistics, surveys, etc. Statistical reports and their application. Index numbers.
Tabular and graphical representations to summarize and interpret data (frequency distributions, scatter
diagram, histogram, etc.).. Characterization of distributions and their interpretation(symmetries, multi-modes,etc.).
Averages, percentiles,variability and concentration.Statistical dependence. The problem of "randomness" ad
causality in the social sciences, spurious relationships, paradoxes. Problems of of "self-selection" and "adverse
selection" in service evaluations. Benchmarking: standardization of the comparisons. Synthesis of simple
indicators: theproblem of the weights, the rankings. The questionnaire based scales:
construction, validation and processing.The statistical prediction: notes on the use of techniques such as the linear
regression. The statistical sampling: types of sampling, probability sampling, mean estimations, assessments of
