Erasmus Students:
Erasmus students are invited to attend the course. Readings and other teaching materials are also available in English and French; the final exam may be discussed in English or French. A basic knowledge of Italian is, however, required. Please contact the teacher for an appointment before the beginning of the course. - Contents
- The course will analyze in a comparative way the historical evolution of political institutions in the Western world from the modern age to the contemporary age, through specific focuses on the English, French, Spanish, German and US contexts. The final part of the course will focus on the birth and development of Italian political institutions from 1861 to 1948.
- Reference texts
- Attending students will base their study on the contents of the lessons and on the materials provided by the teacher, having as a reference text F. Bonini, Lezioni di storia delle istituzioni politiche, Torino, Giappichelli, 2010.
Non-attending students will prepare the exam on the following texts:
E. Rotelli, Le forme di governo delle democrazie nascenti. Storia costituzionale dell'Occidente 1689-1789, Bologna, il Mulino, 2005;
F. Bonini, Lezioni di storia delle istituzioni politiche, Torino, Giappichelli, 2010. - Prerequisites
- It is advisable to follow the course after taking the following exams: Storia moderna, Storia politica dell'età contemporanea, Storia delle dottrine politiche and Istituzioni di diritto pubblico.

- Attendance is not compulsory. Non attending students will study a different exam's program (see above, "Reference Texts" section).
- Learning verification modality
- The final exam will be held in the form of a 30-minutes discussion about the methods and the subjects of the course. Communicative skills will also be the object of a specific evaluation.
No mid-term nor written exams are scheduled. - Extended program
