- Contents
- In this course, several topics with chemical content and which are suitable for pupils of primary schools will be suggested. To this end, we will first outline the underlying concepts of the microscopic structure of matter and then describe and elaborate possible educational paths. There will be some emphasis on the basis of the scientific method and the natural or otherwise common phenomena in everyday life that have a clear chemical connotation.
- Reference texts
- Slides from the teacher
- Educational objectives
- Studends who have followed this course will: 1) know how to set learning units with a chemistry content in the primary school 2) be able to perform simple experiments or explain phenomena common in everyday life (cooking food, detergents).
- Prerequisites
- To follow the course, students must master those simple basic aspects of chemistry that are taught in high school.
- Teaching methods
- Seminar lectures with audiovisual material. If is possible we will do some multimedial learning units, like LO

- Learning verification modality
- The exam is divided into two parts. The first part will be a questionnaire with10 closed questions and 5 open questions, followed by (if judged to be sufficient) a second part, the student will schematically illustrate (in about 15 minutes) the structure of a learning unit aimed at pupils in primary school on one of the following topics: 1) The Scientific Method; 2) Atoms and Molecules; 3) Aggregation States; 4) Property Solutions; 5) The Water Cycle; 6) Air. ¿The oral exam will also enable students to verify their communication skills with language properties and autonomous organization of the topics
- Extended program
- 1) The scientific method¿2) The atomic and molecular structure of matter (atoms and molecules)¿3) Chemical bonds and intermolecular interaction forces¿4) Aggregation states¿5) State changes¿6) The properties of solutions¿7) Water cycle¿8) Air
