The course will focus on the Spanish literary production during the Second Republic and the Civil War (1931-1939) and its aftermath, both during the Franco dictatorship and the exile republican environments. Special attention will be paid to the ideological aspects that permeated poetry, fiction and drama at that time. To do this, on the one hand the historical and social context will be taken into consideration, and on the other hand the thread three authors’ literary career will be followed: Antonio Machado, Rafael Alberti, Miguel Hernández, Manuel Chaves Nogales y Max Aub
Finally, the reception of the theme of civil war and historical memory in fiction and film production in recent decades will be illustrated.
