- The course studies the specific features of contemporary political systems; part of the course will be devoted to the crisis of contemporary democracy.

- The course aims at examining the institutions and the ideologies which characterize political systems in the contemporary world. The course aims also at providing the capability to analysing contemporary political systems.

- General knowledge about contemporary history, history of political thought, political science.

- Lectures and class discussions.

- Class attendance is strongly reccommended.
- Learning verification modality
- For students who attend the course, assessment consists of one mid-course exam and one end-of-course exam. During the mid-course exam students will be required to present a text to the class. The final exam is oral, lasts about 20 minutes and is on topics covered in the course. The purpose of the final exam is to ascertain the level of individual students' knowledge of program contents and their ability to express them in a clear and appropriate manner.
Non-attending students must sit a single oral exam, lasting about 30 minutes, with questions on the contents of three texts assigned in the program. - Extended program
- The course studies the specific features of contemporary political systems. Particular attention will be devoted to : a) problems and perspectives of democracies in the XXI Century; b) authoritarian and totalitarian regimes of the XX Century.
