- Certificate of completion of Italian upper secondary school or equivalent foreign qualification.
- Evaluation of specific subject knowledge on entry
- Verification of the knowledge required for the attendance of the course of study through a compulsory evaluation test of indicative and non-selective nature; if the test is not passed, the student will be given additional educational obligations and will be granted with: • alignment courses, • tutoring, • online alignment courses, • study of additional texts indicated by the course of study. For planned access courses, the admission test is also valid as a test of initial knowledge and additional educational obligations acquisition. Foreign students are required to take a test to verify their proficiency of the Italian language, except Erasmus Incoming students, Exchange Students and students in mobility as per the Cooperation Agreement
- Profile of the programme
- The teaching of medicine present in Perugia since the fourteenth century has evolved today to train a doctor who has: - a multidisciplinary vision of health and disease; - education oriented towards prevention and health promotion; - a vision of the patient in the totality of soma and psyche in the social context - a deep knowledge of diagnosis and treatment innovations The first two-years are dedicated to basic sciences, the third year completes the knowledge of physiology and general pathology and begins the professionalizing medical training, which continues in the second three-year period for the acquisition of pharmacological, medical and surgical knowledge and skills, with practical internships which include the internship enabling to practice as a physician and surgeon.
- Programme learning outcomes
- Graduates will mature: - The ability to carry out the activity of physician and surgeon in various clinical, health and biomedical professional fields, starting from basic medicine, but with the ability to deal with advanced and different problem - Knowledge and skills within: - basic sciences preparatory to clinical and biomedical research. - prevention, with an assessment of the environment and lifestyle - the clinical methodology
- Qualification requirements and regulations
- To be admitted to the final test for the achievement of the degree, the student must have acquired the credits foreseen in the study plan for training activities other than the final test. He must also have carried out the evaluative internship enabling to practisce the profession of Physician and Surgeon The final test for the achievement of the qualification is public and consists in the presentation to a Commission of the thesis, which can be experimental or compilative, on relevant scientific and clinical problems.
- Examination regulations and grading scale
- The evaluation is carried out with an oral or written exam by at least two teachers; intermediate tests are possible The evaluation of disciplinary exams is expressed in thirtieths the minimum mark is 18/30 the maximum mark is 30 with honors. The exams take place in the months of January / February, June / July, September / October. Students can take the exam again if not passed. The University provides ECTS statistical distribution tables of the marks obtained in the exams passed by the students. The evaluation of the final qualification is expressed in 110th, with a minimum grade of 66/110 and a maximum score of 110/110, to which the "laude" can be added unanimously by the Commission. The final mark takes into account the average of the marks obtained in the disciplinary exams and the quality of the thesis.
- Obligatory or optional mobility windows
- Students can take advantage of the various Erasmus programs for study and traineeship purposes. For study purposes, mobility starts before the first semester, in September, or before the second semester, in February, to follow courses recognized as comparable in European universities. Internship mobility is flexible.
- Work-based learning
- The professionalizing internship is organized by the course with online enrollment and takes place in the hospital wards and clinics of the general practitioners. The clinical disciplines provide specific internship credits. Internship is carried out in small groups of students, using university teachers and hospital doctors as tutors, under the responsibility of the teacher in charge of the teaching. 15 CFU of internship in the Medical, Surgical and General Medicine area, are independently assessed and, if judged positively, they are qualifying to practice the profession of Physician and Surgeon
- Occupational profiles of graduates
- Graduates are first-level physician and surgeons, qualified to practice basic medicine and tasks that do not involve specific specializations. Graduates can participate in competitive selections for access to Health Specialization Schools in all Medical Areas and General Medicine Schools.
