| Contents | This legal clinic has as its object the penitentiary system and the theoretical-practical study of the branches of law that contribute to its functioning. |
| Reference texts | Being a theoretical-practical course, possible texts of in-depth analysis of singular cases will be indicated during the seminars and lessons |
| Educational objectives | The objective of the prison law clinic is to train students to identify the concrete solution to the proposed cases |
| Prerequisites | Condition for participating properly in the prison law clinic is the knowledge of the fundamental institutes of criminal law and procedure. |
| Teaching methods | The prison law clinic is divided into three parts: 1. Frontal teaching, dedicated to the reality of the penitentiary system and to the tools for the enforcement of rights in prison; 2. The "prison rights desk": the students, led by the teachers and tutors involved in the project, will go to the Perugia Prison where they will meet the inmates who have requested them to submit their complaints and requests for information on the possibilities of protection of rights. The group will immediately respond to the simplest requests for information. It undertakes to study the most complex cases and to report to the person in subsequent meetings; 3. In the final part of the course, each student will be asked to represent in the classroom a case examined during the desk activity and to propose its better legal solution. The discussion will be in contradictory with a tutor or with an expert in the field (prison operator, lawyer, magistrate). |
| Other information | The attendance of the course in all its parts is essential for the final evaluation |
| Learning verification modality | Students will be evaluated on the basis of active participation in the set of course modules and on the case presentation carried out during the final seminars. |
| Extended program | The penitentiary system and its functioning are the object of the prison law clinic. It is therefore configured as a theoretical-practical interdisciplinary teaching on the disciplines that contribute to the penal execution and deprivation of liberty for reasons of justice |
