-French language dictionaries presented during the course - Educational objectives
- The main purpose of the class is the acquisition of language knowledge and skills
equal to CEFR level B1. The student will
understand and translate texts of various kinds and
express his opinion on the basis of the proposed activities. He will be able to do a research
and a terminological analysis using different
lexicographic sources. - Prerequisites
- In order to follow and understand the class, the student must have
linguistic knowledge
equal to the A2 of the CEFR. - Teaching methods
- The teaching method mainly used will be "the approche communicative" and "actionnelle".
- Other information
- The teacher's lessons are combined with exercises held by a native speaker
at the University Language Center (CLA).
These exercises allow the student to acquire the knowledge and language skills which necessary to pass the exam. - Learning verification modality
- Written exam: active and passive translation with
questionnaire and exercises related to the text. Only monolingual dictionary is allowed.
Oral exam: the oral exam, in French,
will focus on the part of the program about
lexicography. In addition, the student will have to
prepare and explain a dossier, in which he presents
a research and a terminological analysis related to
a freely chosen sector. Research will have to
show the diachronic evolution of
terminology, through the
consultation of lexicographic sources
presented during the class.
The dossier must be delivered to the teacher
ten days before the oral exam.

- The class will focus on French morphosyntax and active and passive translation. A separate chapter will be devoted to lexicology and lexicography. The student will be guided in learning and in metacognitive reflection, in order to broaden his lexical, grammatical and syntactic knowledge. The study of lexicology and lexicography, with the personal research and terminological analysis, will aim at the knowledge and development of a particular approach to the study of the language.
