Contents
The course deals with problems related to the political, economic and social dynamics of states in the Modern Age from the mid-15th century up to the revolutionary age and the new order imposed by the Congress of Vienna. During the lessons, reference will be made to the various historiographic interpretations, the use of sources, and the disciplinary vocabulary, with the aim of
make students aware of the methods of historical work and the critical understanding of events.

Educational objectives
At the end of the course the student :
-will have acquired knowledge of the political-institutional, socio-economic and cultural development of modern history
-will be able to place the most representative events and figures in their chronological and geographical contexts
- use a correct vocabulary specific to the discipline
- will be able to critically read historiographical works and use the main tools for research and analysis of sources.
Prerequisites
It’s important to have taken at least the exam of Medieval History to understand the issues of teaching and the ways of the chronological development.
Teaching methods
Lectures with ppt presentations, examination of different types of historical sources from the modern era and short exercises in their examination; discussion around the proposed sources will be a moment of critical reflection and methodological learning.
