- The main contents will be the following: (1) Definition of risk and hazard, prevention and protection, risk assessment and risk evaluation, risk management and risk communication. (2) Relevant legislation. (3) Definition of hazardous chemical substances (4) CLP Regulation (5) REACH regulation (6) Routes of exposure to chemicals, personal and collective protective equipment (7) Chemical risk assessment

- Educational objectives
- The main objective of the lectures will be to give information regarding the risks associated to the use of chemical substances and mixtures. The student will acquire the basic principles of the CLP and REACH EU regulations, besides the key elements required for the chemical risk assessment.

- Face-to-face lectures. Active participation of students is required.

- Learning verification modality
- Qualification. The student can obtain it by attending to at least 75% of the total lectures and passing a written examination test. The examination test will consist of 10 open-ended and closed-ended questions (LibrEol platform will be used) that can cover all the topics of the program.
The test will be passed with a minimum score of 7/10. Test time: 1 h - Extended program
- Introduction. Hazard and risk, prevention and protection, risk assessment and risk perception, risk management and risk communication. Relevant legislation. Definition of chemical substance and mixture. Definition of hazardous chemicals. GHS/CLP regulation: Hazard classification; hazard and mixture concentration; incompatible substances; hazard pictograms; labelling of chemical substances and mixtures. SDS. The concept of treshold limit value (TLV). Routes of exposure of chemical substances and mixtures. Protective equipment (personal, collective). Risk assessment.
