Contents The course of Prosthetic Technologies has as its objective the knowledge of the main phases of manufacturing of prosthetic products in dentistry, starting from clinical indications, up to laboratory procedures and materials for the use of products.
Reference texts - "Odontostomatologic materials and technologies" by the teachers of dental materials and prosthetic technologies of the Italian University Laboratory and Aries Due Editions
- "Zirconia in Odontology" by Piconi, Rimondini., Cerroni Editions Eklsevier- Masson
-Umberto Buonanno "The human teeth" Sab editions
Educational objectives The aim of the course is to provide the student with a complete overview on modern prosthetic technologies and on the manufacturing processes of fixed and removable prosthetic products.
Starting from the disclosure on the materials most 'used in their implementation, the individual student must' be able to perform a proper care plan, a correct choice of the device and knowledge of laboratory and clinical steps in order to achieve a suitable prosthetic device
Prerequisites The in-depth knowledge of basic dental materials, both from a chemical and a product point of view.
Teaching methods The course will be carried out through lectures which, starting from the presentation of clinical cases, will provide valid prognostic, merchandise and occlusal indications in the choice of the most appropriate device. Furthermore, the students will be guided in the most common laboratory processes aimed at obtaining the selected prosthetic device for the patient.
Other information none
Learning verification modality The assessment of the learning of the issues will be performed through a frontal examination and simulation of a prosthetic rehabilitation through structures provided by dental laboratory
Extended program - Dental morphology and constitutional type
- Occlusal guides, mandibular movements and occlusal patterns
- Imprint materials
-Resin in prosthetics
-From the model's imprint (detection and development)
Assembly of the models in articulatole and occlusal study
- possible arch and total prosthesis
-Arch partially possible and skeletal prosthesis
-The levers and the reference lines in the drawing of the skeleton prosthesis
