Contents
The course studies how wars end. Readings and class discussions explore the challenges of settling territorial disputes, reallocating economic resources, re-designing the future of nations and peoples, implementing a new international order intended to prevent future conflicts.
Reference texts
There are no books to buy. All reading material will be made available on the University's learning platform.
Educational objectives
At the end of the course students will be able to appreciate the complexity of the diplomatic and political work required to achieve peace accords. They will also assess the effectiveness and failures of some peace initiatives in the middle and long term.
Prerequisites
A good knowledge of the global history of the 20th Century
Teaching methods
The class is organized as a seminar. Active participation to class discussions is a fundamental requirement.

Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is essential. Please ask the instructor if you have any questions. Participation to class meetings is mandatory.
Learning verification modality
A written test (40% of grade) and a paper (60% of grade).
