Educational objectives | The aim of the course is to provide students with a general overview of the diagnostic-therapeutic pathways in emergency surgery. In addition, the student should be know the main symptoms and clinical signs related to different emergency diseases. he acute abdomen. The politraumatized patient. Trauma of the abdomen, pelvis and chest. Digestive bleeding. Peritonitis and abdominal abscess. Intestinal occlusion. Retroperitoneal hematomas. Peptic ulcer complications Intestinal infarction. Acute diverticulitis and complications. The colon volvules. Perianal abscesses Acute cholecystitis and its complications Acute pancreatitis Abdominal aortic aneurysms. |
Prerequisites | Basic knowledge is need in anatomy, pathophysiology, semeiotic and surgical pathology. |
Teaching methods | Front-end lessons using powerpoint projections. Contents | The course consists of treating the most urgent-emergency diseases in the internal medicine field, with particular reference to those concerning the cardiovascular system, the respiratory and endocrine-metabolic. |

Educational objectives | The main objective of the course is to empower students to recognize and treat internal diseases with urgency and emergency. The evaluation will take place by means of an oral examination lasting about 30 minutes,during which will be assessed the theoretical knowledge of the individual student in terms of diagnostics and therapy of diseases of internal medicine in the rapidly changing and will also discuss the issues raised during exercises practices carried out by the department according to frequency shifts clearly defined. |
Prerequisites | Knowledge of medical and surgical semeiology and internal medicine |
Teaching methods | The course is organized as follows: - Lectures on all topics of the course, through lectures with interaction between the teacher and the learners; - Practical training in internal medicine department, during which the students will be accompanied to the medical staff for a maximum of three students per shift; each turn provides for a duration of four hours to three shifts, for a total of 12 hours for each student. During these rounds the students will take vision of medical emergencies that belong in internal medicine department, they will put into practice the knowledge in terms of differential diagnosis and specific diagnosis for each disorder, take vision of the main therapeutic procedures for individual cases. |

Cardiomyopathies, myocarditis and pericarditis. Pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis. Emergency-Hypertensive urgency. Vascular dissection and aneurysms. Critical ischemia of the lower limbs. Acute respiratory failure. Pneumonia. Pneumothorax. Hemoptysis and hemoptysis. Acute asthma. Indications for Non Invasive Ventilation. Acute liver failure. Diabetes mellitus emergencies. |
